Stuck at lights, I found myself staring at a sign reading “MINI Cherished” outside a car showroom. Cherished? What on earth were they talking about? And then it struck me. “Cherished” is their way of saying “second-hand”.

Dictionary of Deceit: “rinse and repeat”

“I’m sorry to say, CJ, that our survey shows that people are only washing their hair once each time.”
“Once? Only once? We need to do better than that.”
And they did. Lo and behold, shampoo bottles sprouted the instruction to “RINSE AND REPEAT“.
The outcome? Hair is no cleaner, but shampoo sales have soared.
