Cereal killers wipe out 70,000

Pity the residents of poor Anglesey. Last year Walkers’ crisps wiped them off the map in their Brit Trips campaign. Now it’s happened again, with Weetabix running a £1m cash giveaway, the map for which has obliterated Anglesey and its 70,000 residents.

It was Nia Williams’s children who spotted the gaffe first. “They have just erased Anglesey from the UK,” she said. “They are not so much cereal offenders as cereal killers.”

“The imagery used on the Weetabix ‘Win a Million’ packaging is an artist’s impression and not an exact replica of a map.”

Not, in itself, perhaps a case of Zebu, so much as a simple mistake. What is Zebu, however, is the response from Weetabix. No proper apology of course. Nobody apologises these days. Instead, their spokesman said: “The imagery used on the Weetabix ‘Win a Million’ packaging is an artist’s impression and not an exact replica of a map.” That is classic Zebu.
